What a month it’s been!
On January 27th Aleppo Sweets opened our doors at 107 Ives Street in Providence to kickoff our “soft opening”. The response from all of you has been tremendous and word has spread quickly from friend to friend through word of mouth and social media.
For those of you who have not yet come by our cafe, we are offering an array of freshly baked baklava daily as well as simple savory Syrian fare. The food is prepared authentically like going over to the Akhtarini’s home and has received countless comments such as “This tastes just like my (Syrian) mother’s cooking!” “This tastes just like my (Lebanese) great aunt’s cooking!” You can explore the menu online at AleppoSweets.com.
Speaking of “online” THE BEST way to hear about specials, happenings and updates is to FOLLOW US on Instagram @aleppo_sweets
Meanwhile, we were just featured in the Providence Journal! You can read about us here: https://www.providencejournal.com/entertainmentlife/20190226/dining-out-providences-aleppo-sweets-is-new-destination-for-syrian-baklava
AND The Brown Daily Herald which you can find here: http://www.browndailyherald.com/2019/02/28/aleppo-sweets-opens-ives-street-staffed-refugees/
Frequently asked questions:
YES, WE SHIP BAKLAVA! We continue to offer shipping of our freshly baked, authentic Syrian Baklava anywhere in the USA. To order go to the SHOP BAKLAVA tab at AleppoSweets.com. Larger trays of baklava are also available for pre-order to PICK-UP so that you can get just what you like. Go to the SHOP BAKLAVA tab at AleppoSweets.com and select PICK-UP at checkout.
RESERVATIONS: We are a simple counter service cafe and are not accepting reservations.
TAKE OUT: We DO offer takeout, however at this time take-out orders must be done in person. We are working on an online ordering option, however we do not want to compromise the in-house dining experience so we will be weighing that when making our final decisions (particularly as it relates to days of availability).
CATERING: In the future we will be offering CATERING takeout that could be ordered online, however, right now we are making sure we serve our in-house customers well before we tackle another large business element. Stay tuned, it’s definitely in our future.
Finally, another beautiful aspect of our opening has been the ability to employ people from 8 different Syrian Refugee families, all of whom were invited to resettle here in Providence in 2016. Our kitchen is filled with Syrians cooking the way they have always cooked, and our Front of House has mostly Syrians and a handful of “Americans” thrown in. Another happy consequence has been how everyone has improved their ENGLISH! (We also have a student who has taken Arabic and is enjoying the exposure to Arabic right here in Providence!)
We look forward to seeing you all at 107 Ives Street in Providence!
